Fashion School Accreditation

Accreditation is a significant factor in proving that a fashion degree program is trustworthy and valuable.

Accreditation means the fashion degree program and school meet standards developed by certain industry bodies. Accredited fashion schools offer the best, most reliable education for the dollar. Moreover, the fashion industry respects accredited schools, and companies will look favorably on job candidates who have a fashion degree from an accredited school.

The National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD) is an accrediting body for fashion, art, design, and related disciplines. The NASAD grants institutions and programs accredited status if they meet educational standards the association and industry professionals have established. In addition to the NASAD, the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS) evaluates and accredits fashion and related programs.

Six regional accrediting organizations that can approve fashion institutions and their programs are:
