Fashion Photographer

Fashion photographers, along with fashion writers and videographers, cover fashion shows, expositions, and the industry in general to keep consumers and advertisers informed about styles, trends, and activity in the fashion industry. Fashion photographers often have their work featured in fashion magazines such as Vogue or Allure, and are also employed by fashion catalogues and advertisers.

But fashion photography has also developed as its own art form with its own aesthetic. Some of the most memorable and striking images that now define a specific period were taken by fashion photographers.

The use of light and shadow, the pose of the models, the background environment, and the attention to drapery and other details of the featured clothing, create an atmosphere in the image that transcends and may even expand on the "statement" made by the fashion designer with the clothing itself.

Fashion photograhpers therefore may work closely with fashion designers, fashion houses, or fashion editors to acheive a specific look and feel.
